St Leonards Writers.
We are a group of enthusiastic members who have been meeting weekly since 2007 for lectures, workshops, creative exercises, writing practice, discussions, and constructive criticism. We aim to help one another create the best possible writing.
We meet every Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm at St Ethelburga's Parish Church, St Saviours Road, TN38 0AS, in the Lady Chapel. The church is situated at the bottom of Filsham Road/ St Saviours Road, St Leonards on Sea, near the Bexhill Road A259.
There is an annual membership fee of £5.00. Attending a session costs £1.00 plus 20p for a cup of tea or coffee. On some days that includes a slice of homemade cake!
Unless an outside facilitator is taking the session, it is divided into two sections, in the first we study technique and after a break we devote the time to critiquing each others work. We also perform at local festivals and events in and around St Leonards.
St Leonards Writers also draw on the skills, talent, and expertise of successful published writers. Over the past few years Kay Green, Kate O'Hearne, Sally Holloway, Frank Bernard and VG Lee have helped us develop new skills and embrace unfamilar genres.
St Leonards Writers aims to self publish new works by their members on a regular basis. We encourage members to enter competitions and submit their work for publication.
St Leonards Writers welcomes people from different backgrounds and with different experiences.
We will endeavour to ensure that all its activities, projects, training and services attract people from all sectors of the community.
